As we digest the election of Trump, we know the devastating impact it will have on workers, immigrants, women, activists, queer communities, and our planet. This election foreshadows a phase of fascism where our communities will be targeted and challenged. This is not new to us. Throughout the history of this country, we have fought against threats, racism, sexism, attacks against immigrants and working class communities of color.
We will continue to work together to build towards our liberation, dignity and respect, as we have done for generations, understanding that frontline communities have the expertise to lead this effort. We fight for and alongside each other, for domestic workers, for immigrants, for people of color, for dignity and respect, for human rights and an end to war and exploitation.
Our commitment to liberation does not end at the ballot box. Our power is in our commitment to collective action and political power that begins with us.
Our coalition vision statement says it best:
We create a world that centers care and interdependence where all people live, work, and age with dignity and in their full humanity.
We envision a world where:
We are free to stay, move between and maintain a vibrant connection to our homelands and the knowledge of our ancestors.
We are connected to the land and uplift the indigenous wisdom and stewardship of the land. A world where our people have power, self-determination and govern ourselves with people-centered values, so that we are able to live with dignity.
We live healthy lives and have access to a decent livelihood (economic stability, housing, jobs, health, education, etc.). Where Care is Transformed: and we are able to fully care for and raise our children and grandchildren, and everyone is able to age with dignity.
A world where domestic workers and people who provide care are valued and respected across lifespans and communities.”
